Do you really need to keep reminding yourself why your buying a 600 dollar console because Sony's trying to win a format war. There's nothing you can do on BR that a HDD couldn't do. And PS3 needs both to run a game because of BR's speed.

you have to buy Microsofts warranty that comes with the box. You can get the warranty in the first 90 days of owning the console.
that's the only way to get a warranty after you bought it.

I was worried it would be 300, but 250 may just be in my budget. Batterie's decent, screen rocks, most video formats supported, 30gb is just right.

Yah it's pre-rendered, but more importantly they announce the franchise won't die after Halo 3. I'm sure the RTS will come out late 2007 to dodge Halo 3 sales.
I wouldn't buy a PS3 at launch unless you have a warranty. If you can't live without FF or MGS4 than wait a year till they come out.
I know the quads are coming, and I can't wait to spend 300$ times 4 equalling 1200 bucks just on a video card set up.
